This task will focus on your ability to perform good research and share your knowledge through a model of ethnic dress from your country or province.
By researching, you will discover the original clothing of your country/province as it was settled. Today, most people dress very much as we do. You may find “ethnic costumes” by looking at the festivals that are celebrated. This is when people today tend to wear their native costume.
DIRECTIONS:
Cut out template pattern from 18"x 24” oak tag.
Use this pattern to create the person from foam board. An exacto knife works best if your scissors won’t do the job. You must have parental supervision if you use the exacto knife.
Research the ethnic clothing of your country/province and decide on a costume for your cutout.
Be sure to use texture! Felt, yarn, cloth, puff paints, glitter, cotton, feathers, etc are just a few ways you can dress up your figure. Remember to keep your ideas based on your research.
The name of your country/province should be clearly visible somewhere on the front of your figure.
Create a typed paragraph of six to eight sentences describing the historical significance of your costume. You should explain when and where the outfit would be worn. Explain how the resources available to the original settlers were used in making their clothing. Finally, be sure to mention the materials you used to reproduce the ethnic dress.
